Job Responsibilities
Animal Care
- Feeding and Watering: Provide daily feed and clean water to dairy cattle. Ensure a balanced diet and monitor feed quality.
- Health Monitoring: Observe cattle for signs of illness. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a veterinarian. Assist with vaccinations and health checks.
Facility Maintenance
- Cleaning: Regularly clean barns, milking parlors, and feed areas to maintain a healthy environment for the animals.
- Repairs: Perform minor repairs on facilities and equipment. Report significant issues to the management team for resolution.
Record-Keeping
- Data Entry: Maintain accurate records of animal health, milk production, and feed consumption. Update records regularly and report abnormalities to management.
- Breeding Management: Assist with tracking breeding cycles and maintaining breeding records.
General Farm Duties
- Support Tasks: Assist with other farm tasks such as moving cattle, cleaning equipment, and preparing feed. Be flexible to take on various responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training in animal care is beneficial.
- Experience: Previous experience with livestock is preferred but not mandatory. On-the-job training will be provided.
- Skills: Physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work in early mornings and weekends.
Work Environment
- Physical Demands: Involves indoor and outdoor work with exposure to livestock and varying weather conditions. Physically demanding tasks are part of the role.
- Work Hours: Includes early mornings, late evenings, and weekends. Flexibility is necessary.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary: $42,000 to $52,000 per year, with potential for overtime.
